
MARILENA MAKRI
Laser Radial / Sailor CYP
Marilena Makri (2002) is a Cypriot Laser Radial sailor of Famagusta Nautical Club and a member of Team sailCY. Since she joined the project in 2017 she has steadily been in the top 10 sailors in the world in her category. In 2019 she was 4th in the Laser Radial U19 Europeans and 4th in the Laser 4.7 U18 Worlds but her biggest achievement (to date) was qualifying for the TOKYO 2020 OLYMPIC GAMES during the 2019 Laser Radial Women’s Worlds in Sakaiminato, Japan. It will be the first time ever that the Laser Radial is represented for Cyprus in the Olympics and only the 2nd time ever that an athlete this young (16,5 years old when she qualified) qualifies for the Olympics in the Laser Radial. Her results are just another example of what hard work, proper coaching and professional planning can achieve!
SOTIRIS MILTIADOUS
Laser 4.7 / Sailor CYP
Sotiris Miltiadous (2004) is a Cypriot Laser 4.7 sailor of Famagusta Nautical Club and a member of Team sailCY. He joined the project in September 2018 and in just 1 year he has shown great progress. In August 2019 in his first time competing in a World Championship in Kingston, Canada Sotiris managed to qualify for the Gold Fleet and be 14th in the U16 category. He also won the Laser 4.7 U16 Cypriot Championship and was 2nd in the U18. Under the guidance of Team sailCY coaches and trainers his future in the Laser seems a bright one!


ROKO MOHR
Laser Radial / Sailor GER
Roko Mohr was born 8/12/2002 at Marbella, Spain. He is a German sailor and joined Team sailCY in 2018 when he made the transition from Optimist into Lasers. Roko started sailing at 7 years old in the Optimist and soon he showed the great talent he had for this sport. He improved very quickly and went on to become one of the best Optimist sailors in the world. He has competed in 4 Optimist World Championships and was every time in the Gold Fleet. His worse result was 29th in his first Worlds in Argentina 2014 and his best was 7th in Portugal in 2016! He has also won the German Championship 3 times, has been National Chnampion in a lot of other Open Championships such as Ireland, Finland, Switzerland, Costa Rica and Denmark and has a lot of top 5 result in a lot of big international regattas. He is currently balancing school (last year) and sailing the Laser Radial improving steadily and getting ready to prove he can match and even surpass his Opti success in the Laser class.
ANDRIE PAPASTAVROU
Laser Radial / Sailor CYP
Andrie Papastavrou (2004) is a Cypriot Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial sailor of Famagusta Nautical Club and as of November 2019, a member of Team SailCY. Andrie started sailing at the age of 10 and over the course of time, sailing became her passion in life. Her performance in 2019 (1st places at the Pancyprian Laser 4.7 U16 Championship and the Pancyprian Laser Radial U17 Championship Girls) proved that with great dedication, discipline and hard work, her future in sailing seems promising. In November 2019 she joined the team SailCY and under the guidance of Team SailCY coaches and trainers she aspires to enrich her knowledge of sailing and experiences in racing in Cyprus and abroad.

MIC MOHR

Mic Mohr was born 22/2/2004 at Marbella, Spain and started sailing at age 6 in the Optimist Class. Mic like his brother Roko showed very early on that he had a great talent for sailing. A very focused and hard working athlete from a very young age Mic went on to achieve great results in the Optimist Class some of which are: 7th at the 2016 Europeans in Italy, 3rd at the 2017 Worlds in Thailand and 6th at the 2018 Worlds in Cyrpus!! Mic won the German Championship 2 times, he was National Chnampion in a lot of other Open Championships such as Poland, Mexico and Cyprus and has a lot of top 5 results in a lot of big international regattas. This year he will make the transition from Optimist into the Laser 4.7 and he is looking to keep up working hard as he always does to achieve even greater things in the Laser class.
